Everyday Skirt
A Foundation of Soft Movement
The Story
The Everyday Skirt is the foundational anchor of the s.i.t.a’s wardrobe. Designed with a minimal cut to honor the structural integrity of antique linen, this piece is a study in purposeful simplicity. It is intended to be lived in—a versatile layer that harmonizes with the Dusters and Carry Layers to create a complete, grounded silhouette.
There is no excess here, only intention. A single, deep pleat at the front creates a sharp, architectural volume that allows for ease of movement while maintaining a refined, modern presence. Every detail is an act of devotion to the textile’s history, finished by hand to ensure the garment feels like a natural extension of the wearer.
The Artistry of the Detail
The Cut: A minimal, flowing silhouette featuring a single architectural front pleat for effortless volume and a discreet hidden side pocket for utility.
The Textile: Crafted from recovered antique European linen, chosen for its heavy drape and the unique character of its aged weave.
Hand-Worked Closures: Every buttonhole is finished by hand using 100% silk thread.
The Buttons: Finished with a single hand-formed ceramic button, sculpted and fired in the studio next door to serve as a singular, earthy anchor.
Living Color: Botanical Dyeing
This skirt is designed to evolve, absorbing plant dyes in a way that highlights the grain of the antique linen.
Sea Almond Sand: A muted, washed parchment brown.
Cutch Brown: A deep, earth-born wood tone.
Ryukyu Indigo: A vibrant, layered blue rooted in tradition, created in a 16-week cycle with our Okinawan partners.
Overdyed Black: A dense, complex dark achieved through multiple plant-dye immersions.
