Lace apron dress  -  studio  edition

This one-of-a-kind apron dress was crafted from a piece of antique lace I found during a sourcing trip in France in 2022. I have a habit of keeping piles of textiles on my shelves - pieces I want to preserve intact because they feel too precious to cut into. With this lace, it was the extraordinary craftsmanship that went into its original making. With others, it might be the motifs, the color, the age… the reasons go on and on. A couple of months ago, I looked through the piles and felt that perhaps it was time. This piece of lace felt ready to be crafted and given a new life. And so, this piece came to be.

The adjustable shoulder straps are made from antique linen. The entire dress is hand-stitched and hand-repaired throughout.I left the chest area unlined because I love the way it looks layered over other garments. A lining can be added upon request for an additional charge.

Length: approximately 110 cm at the shortest point in front and 128 cm at the longest point in back.

Condition: Excellent antique condition, with subtle signs of age that reflect the lace’s history.
