Padded Duster
An Artifact of Time and Gesture
The Story
The Padded Duster is a garment made slowly, entirely by hand over the course of two months. Each piece is hand-stitched, hand-patched, and hand-quilted using antique linen—a process akin to traditional quilt-making, but led by intuition rather than a blueprint.
No two pieces are the same. Each duster is shaped by subtle decisions: a fabric’s edge, a feeling in the fingertips, and the time of day. In the time it took to finish, these dusters traveled across continents with thread and needles still attached—from the morning sunlight in the NYC studio to the Taipei misty air, through Monument Valley’s vast stillness, to the breeze of Taitung by the sea.
