Patchwork Trousers
A Composition of Fragments
The Story
These trousers are a study in purposeful conservation. By using patchwork as my primary construction method, I am able to practice minimal cutting; rather than cutting away from a larger bolt of fabric, I build the textile to the exact pattern of the garment.
Every pair is an original composition, entirely patched by hand using vintage handkerchiefs and antique linen fragments. These small pieces of history are meticulously joined to create a new, structural whole—transforming delicate remnants into a durable, functional garment that carries the memory of the hands that first embroidered and wove them.
The Artistry of the Detail
Textile Construction: A hand-built mosaic of vintage hankies and salvaged antique linens.
Functional Minimalist Cut: Designed with a comfortable elastic waist and hand-stitched straps crafted from antique linen fragments.
Hidden Utility: Features two discreet side-seam pockets, maintaining the clean, sculptural lines of the patchwork.
Hand-Finished Closures: Every buttonhole is finished entirely by hand using 100% silk thread, ensuring the closures are as resilient and beautiful as the textile itself.
Living Color & Variations
Original Antique White: The piece shown in the photograph is available for immediate shipment, featuring the original, layered whites of the vintage linens.
Botanical Dye Options: These trousers can be naturally dyed to order, allowing the different densities of the patchwork to absorb the pigment uniquely:
Sea Almond Sand: A muted, parchment brown.
Cutch Brown: A deep, earth-born wood tone.
Logwood Grey: A soft, nuanced charcoal.
Ryukyu Indigo: A vibrant, layered blue rooted in tradition. This version is created in collaboration with artisans in the Okinawa countryside who grow, harvest, and dye the piece.
Overdyed Black: This dense, complex dark is achieved through successive immersions in both Sea Almond tannins and Ryukyu Indigo vats. The result is a "living black" that reveals blue and earth-toned depths over time.
Bringing it Home
Each pair is a one-of-a-kind artifact, designed to soften and harmonize with the wearer’s movement over time.

To Begin Your Commission
Due to the limited availability of the specific vintage handkerchiefs and the time-intensive nature of the hand-patching process, I accept a restricted number of commissions for these trousers each month.
To secure your place in the studio schedule and begin the selection of your specific linen fragments, a 50% deposit is required. The balance is due only once your garment is finished and ready for its journey to you.
For Ready to Ship Items: Pieces currently available in the studio, such as the Original Antique White trousers shown, are due in full at the time of purchase to initiate immediate delivery.
